The inset "chapter" has turned into a mini-series in three parts, but it is finished. Parts 1 & 2 are out to grammar beta, part 3 is still awaiting some content beta comments. I won't be around for a while to post it, though. But have patience. It is coming...

Since no one guessed the scene correctly, it is of course possible that you're not interested in having this expanded:

Catos smiled down at Faros for a moment, a soft smile that left Tom dizzy with awareness. ‘It gave me the courage to stop being patient, anyway.’ He met Tom’s gaze. ‘So next time I was on leave -’

‘I woke up and found him in my bed.’

‘And invited him to stay?’ suggested Tom; the small signs that they were lovers were so obvious that he was surprised he hadn’t noticed before. The way they looked at each other, touched each other - the indefinable air of happiness.

Faros gave a huff of laughter. ‘No, I threw him out.’

For those who are interested, I discovered recently that Michelangelo has drawn Catos as a young man.

Oh, COOL. I just kind of assumed the expanded scene would be the coronation and Tom's award. But the promise of this is fabulous!

Not that it would be a bad thing to see an expanded coronation scene... :-)

So many scenes... so little time. :D

I think you'll like the name of Tarlos's concubine...

*sigh* I love Micheangelo. He has great taste. ;)

Look for an email from me on the inset. Cheers!

I love Michelangelo, too. I'd not seen this picture before - I bought a postcard of it, and I've ordered a poster (available on the British Museum website) - but I probably got my love of the classical Roman look from the Master. Certainly, my description of Catos was based on the ancient romans; I remember showing you a profile in the museum in Toronto. This picture is almost perfect. He just needs his nose to be a whisker straighter.

That is beautiful. And I am eagerly looking forward to the expanded scenes. Faros and Catos have become favorites with me.

He *is* beautiful, isn't he? It gave me quite a jolt when I saw him at the exhibition.

Sounds great! I look forward to anything you write in this universe. It is such an interesting one. Michelangelo got it right, methinks, maybe you can work him into the story. Lovely, lovely drawing.

Congratulations on the job. :) I'm trying to catch up on LJ after a week away. I'll try and get the first part posted before I go away again at the end of the week. *Looks hopefully at Aliena*

Aw, I knew I should have guessed! Can't wait for the mini-series.

Love the painting. It's so great to have a face to picture when reading the story. :)

Aw, I knew I should have guessed!

If you'd have guessed Faros throwing Catos out of his bed, then, yes, you should have. :D

Faros has high cheek bones, and of course his eyebrows meet. Both have very straight noses - an ancient Roman trait, and straighter than this picture shows.

Your postcard was waiting for me when I got back last night. Thank you. :) Very haremy. :D

Lovely drawing, and the reunion between the hobbits and the Haradrim was delicious!

Thank you. :) I realised yesterday (during an 11 hour drive home) that I haven't included Faros telling Catos that Tom wouldn't recognise him in the inset. I'll see if I can add it in.

That was weird about you not receiving notification of my LJ reply to you in May. Things are still *very* hectic, interspersed with breaks away, so I've not had much time to catch breath or write anything on LJ
