Title:The Adventures of Tom and Barard
Category: slash.
Rating: NC-17 for sexual content. Contains violence, some references to non-consensual sex, and lots of hurt/comfort. I make no money from these stories, and give grateful thanks to JRR Tolkien for providing us with such a richly imagined world to play in.

Parts 1 & 2 of the three part inset chapter have been posted, although without the benefit of grammar and spelling corrections. I'll be away from tomorrow, so I'm posting the two parts uncorrected, rather than making you wait another 2 weeks. As for part 3, beta feedback on the sex says "can do better", so I'll be working on that while I'm away. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it... :D

Inset chapter (Faros/Catos) part 1 can be found here, and part 2 here.

Earlier chapters can be found here

This is so fun! Did you ever post your Catos picture? Perhaps you should make an icon for this part. Have a good trip!

I wanted to make an icon out of the Catos picture, but the LJ icon making help seems to have vanished as though it had never been. [livejournal.com profile] giving_ground says she'll make me one when we get back. :) The weather is fabulous; I've just called in at the library on my way to get some more wine. :)

Thank you so much for the updates! Poor Faros, so much going on between grieving for his lost love and denying his love for Catos. And the scars left because of Bayos' abuse. Thank you for expanding your story for these two delightful characters.

And thanks for updating while you were preparing to leave. I hope your trip is safe and wonderful.

Thank you, Addie. I picked up your feedback before I left, but didn't have time to reply. I've been sitting in the sun, looking out over salt marshes, redrafting part 3...

This is marvelous! I'm so glad all of Catos's patience has paid off - and will continue to pay off. :) The last part looks to be very promising.

I'm working on it, but it may just remain (to quote beta feedback) "warm and comforting rather than sizzling." Sigh . I guess that's Faros for you.

Fabulous! I really love your OCs--they're very rich in personality and individual, identifiable characteristics. I *adore* the man Catos has grown up to be; it's a tremendous difference from the slightly goofy boy he was, and yet the basic personality traits--good judgment of character, compassion, gentle-spirited wisdom--are still there in spades. (His internalization of Yanos's influence as a fair and decent commander shows!) He's an absolutely delightful character. I can only imagine the level of trust and importance he will ultimately achieve in Sulos's regime. And Faros is a delight as well, having adjusted with good grace and tremendous dignity to his new station in life. I'm really glad you decided to write these extra scenes; I only hope you'll write MORE!

Thanks, Elycia. :) Faros is angling for his life story. I'm resisting him at the moment

(((Elenya))),
Your writing is heart wrenching, erotic, deep and thought provoking… and more good things than I have the vocabulary to express.
I loved every word of this inset chapter, as I've loved every word of ATB, and I can't wait for more. Thank you.
Elaine.
