I'm sorry, I haven't had the time to pay much attention to flist and I missed the announcement in Middle-Earth News. Went and read your excellent essay now. I think it makes a lot of valid points - I only wish it had been longer!! :)

And I must say I have always been a bit disappointed by Sam's response in CU to Frodo's description of what happened. Oh well.

Anyway, I hope finding something else to post doesn't cause too much inconvenience. :(

I think it makes a lot of valid points - I only wish it had been longer!! :)

That's why I put the word essay in quotes, since it really isn't an essay, it was posted on a message board early in 2003, so it has some seeds of my thinking for ATIH. I sent it to Carole because there were a lot of similarities in her thinking in her Counterpoint series and she asked if she could put it up on her website. I'll still post it on Saturday, maybe with my ATIH letter from Frodo to Sam and a little surprise that won't be finished, but I'll dangle it in a tantalising way. :D It's not so much about Frodo and Sam... yet. :D

btw, read the inset chapters for The Adventures of Tom and Barad yesterday and oooooh, was blown away. :) Will leave feedback later today!
