Title:The Adventures of Tom and Barard
Category: slash.
Rating: NC-17 for sexual content. Contains violence, some references to non-consensual sex, and lots of hurt/comfort. I make no money from these stories, and give grateful thanks to JRR Tolkien for providing us with such a richly imagined world to play in.
Part 3 of the three part inset chapter (Faros/Catos)has now been posted and can be found here. In addition to the betas who have already been thanked, I'd like to thank Elayne for her grammar help on the inset chapter. Remaining mistakes, as always, are mine. If you have enjoyed the whole Tom and Barard adventure, please tell your friends. :)
Inset chapter part 1 can be found here, and part 2 here.
Earlier chapters can be found here

I am so glad you added these extra Chapters. I have enjoyed them so much. Thank you for this wonderful story, and may your muse live on!

Watching Catos take charge in picking the guard was fun, as was Faros's impressed reaction. The funeral was touching and so full of detail that I felt I was there. So often, we don't realize how much we're grieving until we're allowed to do so. That was good for Faros to be able to put that part of his life behind him.
Thank you so much for this wonderful story. When I have time, I shall have to go back and reread this story in one go.
And I second Addie. May your muse live on!

Ah, but that was the redrafted version. :D All praise to betas...
Faros's reaction was very spontaneous. :D I hadn't planned that at all, although I did want the readers to see how mature and capable Catos now was.
I love it when people tell me they reread my stories. I hope you enjoy it as much second time around. :)

Another great chapter. I could read on and on. I love this tale so much. Hopefully your muses will urge you to write more.
I had written this before but somehow LJ "swallowed" my comment because I was not logged in (don't know why LJ did log me out in the first place)

I'm glad you liked this story so much. :)

Just want to tell you that I'm at chapter 14 now and am enjoying every minute of their adventure :-)
And also to point you to this site. Have you seen the lovely paintings here before? There's one of Frodo holiding a baby and it reminds me so much of ATIH with Frodo holding his little Elanor!

I'm glad to hear you're catching up. I didn't realise you'd been left behind...

Here's a short reminder that it is your turn to make your Hobbit Month Post on Sunday August 20. Please remember to post the banner at the top of your post by using the link below and replacing all () with <>.

Also, please do not flock the post! Thank you! I'm looking forward to what you are going to post! :D

And I must say I have always been a bit disappointed by Sam's response in CU to Frodo's description of what happened. Oh well.
Anyway, I hope finding something else to post doesn't cause too much inconvenience. :(

That's why I put the word essay in quotes, since it really isn't an essay, it was posted on a message board early in 2003, so it has some seeds of my thinking for ATIH. I sent it to Carole because there were a lot of similarities in her thinking in her Counterpoint series and she asked if she could put it up on her website. I'll still post it on Saturday, maybe with my ATIH letter from Frodo to Sam and a little surprise that won't be finished, but I'll dangle it in a tantalising way. :D It's not so much about Frodo and Sam... yet. :D

Of course, Faros's story would be fascinating as well, esp. when he meets Patros...
Oh, what the heck. Whatever you write about these two, I'll read it! Thanks for sharing this excellent tale.

:) Thank you. He wasn't in my original story plan at all. I'm not sure why he suddenly appeared in the cart to look after poor Tom, but I'm glad he did. In fact, having written that, I went to look at my original story plan, and had a good laugh as I tried to recognise the story as it turned out :D

It's interesting, though, how our first ideas of a story often look nothing like the finished product. I go back and read first drafts sometimes and think to myself, "WHAT were you drinking when you wrote this?" It pays to save notes and draft versions, if only to remind ourselves why editing and rewriting are important. :-)
Oh, and I just want to plead a little more for the Khand stories...
